History of the Israel Palestine Conflict

Israel-Palestine_flags

NPR News is presenting this special series on the roots of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict to bring context and perspective to the story, and to help listeners understand the complex situation in the Mideast, the history, and the consequences of the confrontation. To accomplish this, NPR has gone to leading historians of the region to document the deep and conflicting roots of today’s Middle East.

Zionism emerged as the political movement to create a Jewish state. Herzl brought his followers together in the first Zionist Congress in Switzerland, in 1897, to formulate the movement’s goals and strategies. Herzl had little interest in the Arabs who lived in Palestine, which was then part of the Ottoman Empire.

The answer to the conflict’s history is easy. The world has bowed repeatedly to the stupid idea that God, whatever form he may exist grants real estate permits to one group of people over the other.
Yes Israel is a democratic country in a land of theocracies, oligarchies and monarchies and is worthy of some support. Personally I respect the courage and intelligence of the Israeli people but it never should have been placed where it is……
Someone got the ridiculous idea that God granted that land to the Jews, in much the same manner others have the idea that it was granted to the followers of Muhammed …….God, in whatever form he may exist does not give a rats gonads who occupies what land…
Israel should have been placed somewhere relatively nuetral in a location negotiated by the United Nations and if they didn;t like it tough.
Today as then any time thew words Granted by God comes out of anyones mouth they should be arrested and sent to some isolated place where they cannot cause trouble …like Mars…governments and cultures based on ethnicity and religion any religion are dangerous and stupid and as the past 50 years of enthic, nationalist and religious conflicts show inevitably violent
