So very sad for everyone……Lebanon is caught in a political squeeze, and it is the people who suffer. Hezbollah is a creeping crud that will destroy the democracy in Lebanon….I pray for both sides. Perhaps Israel is overreacting, but Hezbollah poses a threat to their stability, also. Israeli civilians are dying as well…….Why can’t we find a peaceful solution?

As for Bush… ANOTHER restful sleep on Pennsylvania avenue! Where are the bombs to ROCK HIS night? MAYBE those of us who cast that ballot - should have thought twice about THAT.

To the person, who wrote that “whoever wins, Lebanon will lose”: I hear you and feel exactly what you are saying. I have been in combat, and nobody wins….ever. It’s the same here in the United States in that all of the bastards with the power are starting all this crap around the world, and now everyone hates us for it. And this whole time it is the people in power who are abusing their authority. Just for the record, most of us Americans cannot stand Bush or his B.S. policies. It’s unfortunate that right now the powers that be in your country are trying to destroy it for their own personal gain. I am very sorry. When will we (the Human race) ever learn?

Thank God for Bush! The USA with his strong leadership is the only friend Democracy has. He’s got my and my entire families vote. Now about Lebanese crying, “what did we do?” YOU, the common people of Lebanon voted to elect Hizbullah to your government ! YOU, the common people of Lebanon did not demand the disarming of Hizbullah as demanded by the World in the UN resolution. Israel, unconditionally pulled out of your country and all you had to do was not allow anyone to attack them from your homeland. You thought Hizbullah was looking after you because the provided goods and services to you, didn’t you? Now you know all they did was fool you into letting them stay and gain access to your government, so they could take attach Israel. Now you know they really were looking out for IRAN and Syria. So don’t cry to the world your country is being ruined. You only have your selves to blame. Go Israel, do their ( Lebanese) work for them. Get rid of Hizbullah for THEM!

I think that most wars would end if the leaders of all of the different factions were required to fight (on the front line). We have our old people in leadership positions who send the young of all nations out to war!! They are safely back behind the action and seem to be totally disconnected from what the people of their country really want. I will guarantee that if George Bush had to fight on the front line, we (the USA) would not be in Iraq. I think it is sad that anyone, Lebanese, Israeli, Hezbollah, Iraqi, United States etc. etc. etc. has to die. If the leader of Hezbollah and all his top men had to be in south Lebanon fighting the Israelis up front and in person, and stay there until the fighting was over, this situation would not last. To be fair to Hezbollah I think the leaders of Israel should also be on the front lines!! I think that the congress of the United States should be rotated to the front line and serve at least one tour of duty in Iraq (or any other war). Send 1/3 of both houses by lottery for a complete tour of duty, on the front line actually fighting!!! If this was done in all nations wars would be, if not a thing of the past, at least extremely rare. I served in Vietnam. War is terrible and no one wins.

I am sitting here with tears in my eyes reading these blogs. I just never realized just who it was that was bearing the brunt of all of this. I don’t understand how our so called leaders can sit back and let this happen. I also now understand why the rest of the world hates the us ( the U.S.) so.

As a Christian Mexican/American living in an Muslim country, I can tell you not all Muslims want to kill us. In fact, I’d venture to say not even most of them want that. To - this is reality…..You have a very good point that the government of any country can be a very bad leader and the citizens of any country do not have much control over the government once that elected official takes office. Where Sept. 11th is concerned, I’m sorry that you strongly believe the story WE were told. Part of being a responsible American is looking at ALL of the events that took place before this happened. If you look at evidence surrounding the “attack’s”, their story doesn’t fit! Why are you even bringing up Sept. 11th with this. One has nothing to do with the other. To all of you who are suffering through this, Lebanese and Israeli, I wish we could be a WORLD of Freedom and Tolerance toward each other. If that makes me an Idealist then so be it. I care about what is happening to you. I honestly think some people here have some valid points….but what it really comes down to is we should appreciate every moment of life we have left on this Earth. Even if there are bombs going off in your neighborhood or people being murdered. There is alot of good in the world and I think we should focus our energy on letting the good come and defeat the bad. 2. It appears that few Muslims REALLY know their Koran. I have only read it once, so I am no expert, but it has MANY references that Allah “gave the scriptures to the Jewish people.” This means Jewish scripture is also Muslim scripture, ignored by most Muslims with great determination. It also has at least two references to “the Jewish people, whom we (Allah is normally referrred to in the plural) have chose above all creature.” THIS IS THE MOST POWERFUL STATEMENT IN THE BOOK, and univerally ignored as well.

3. Terrorists claim to hate Americans. In 180 WEEKS of war, with Americans in plainly marked uniforms and vehicles, they can only kill 2 a day while they kill 20 to 50 of their own. They are not very good at their chosen job. With fifty plus attacks per day in the Baghdad area, and many more nationwide, they can only kill 30-50 people per day, mostly in one suicide attack??? I am not even trained, and if I could not kill at least one person per attack, WITHOUT KILLING TWENTY FRIENDLIES for each enemy, I would die of embarrassment!

4. For American pacifists: These terrorists killed more Americans in 180 MINUTES of “peace” than in 180 WEEKS of war. And they issued no free passes for pacifists. Think about it.

5. The Koran does NOT promise 70 virgins to anyone. It DOES condemn killing of innocents. It DOES declare Christians and Jews to be “people of the book,” to be respected as any Muslim.

6. These terrorists are a disgrace to the term barbarian.

7. The current terrorism violates the spirit of Jewish, Christian, and Islamic Scripture, although it is in line with Jewish and Christian scriptural prophecy. RELIGION ASIDE, this terrorism is doomed to ultimate failure. No society, nation, whatever, whose goal was simple destruction of all other societies, nations, whatever, has long survived. “You reap what you sow.”

Most of the world, I’m certain, is united in feeling for those civilians who are caught between Hezbollah and Israel.

I’ve watched this confict repeat over and over since I was a young man, in 1967. It is a test of wills on the part of leaders of both sides, and humanity be damned.

Isn’t there a Ghandi in the middle east? Some young man or woman willing to employ the tactics of non-violent passive resistance? These tactics won India’s freedom. They revolutionized race relations in the United States for the better.

It only takes one person to be such a leader.

We humans like to imagine ourselves as sentient beings; with “rights” to dominate this Earth and all things in it…. What sad delusions we allow to dominate our simple minds! Wars. like religions, governments, and social caste sytems, etc. are merely human inventions. They are tools of power and control, as used for millenia by those people who would control the lives of others. Show me one player in this crazy-quilt power-struggle who is right….any whose deeds are justified and righteous. I can’t see a one. Pity the fools who follow “leaders” who talk out of both sides of their mouths, wallow in hypocrasy, predjudice, hatred, and all the other human failings we so tenaciously cling to. Damn the “leaders” who speak endlessly of lofty ideals, “human rights”, and “morality”; while privately selling weapons, national resources and innocent human lives. Fools and hypocrites: it seems there is a limitless supply of them. How can one cry “Peace, … peace” and be a part of the support mechanisms of the world-wide Military-Industrial complex; which may ultimately drag all of us down to oblivion? Where is the logic in our convictions? Why is the truth so hard to find, when we live in a world where we can readily share information?
Let’s play “WHAT IF”…. What if: there is no “god”; only this time and space? What if: there is no “afterlife”, “heaven”, “hell”, or such-like concept? What if: there are no “hidden forces” of any kind, just us; here, and now. Just who we are and what we do in our lives, with no reason to let “history”, and some
belief that we must get revenge for a misdeed that ocurred in the past, or may happen in the future. What if: we didn’t believe in all our BULLS**T with all our hearts? Everybody is a loser in war, there’s no such thing as a “winner”. and no where in the Quran does it promise 75 virgins, or ANY virgins for that matter, it goes against the Muslim religion anyways. And christians, jews, and muslims are ALL considered “people of the book”. has anyone ever noticed that all three of those religions (specially Islam and Christianity) are very much alike with just a few differences. As an american as well as a muslim, one of our neighbors is christian and our other neighbors are jewish, and we all get along FINE.

I’m not worried about offending anyone, I’m just worried about the human race. So many wars for so many years. Why?? It’s crazy. Where does all this hate come from? You can see it here in this little blog. I believe MOST people are good and the few Evil ones seem to get the upper hand. How does that happen? Even here in America, I see the uncaring and HATE in people every day. The sad thing is most of the good I see is in small kids. Most adults don’t seem to care anymore.

most of the good you see nowadays are all from little kids. they’re the ones willing to share their food(well, mostly) and the sand box and are willing to help others. maybe we should all get taught by little kids, get back to rememberin the days when we were actually there for one another.

I think Americans should wake up and realize that ALOT of these damn arabs hate them…nobody is marching infont of the white house screaming death to arabs but “Death to isreal or death to AMERICA” is always always heard in the middle east. I really thought that sept 11th would wake you people up…would make u realize what these arabs are all about…I guess there are still MANY sleepers.
