Sidewalk Art - Julian Beever

beever_batman

This is a Julian Beever art work that I haven’t seen before. This is possibly the best art work of his that I’ve ever seen. Julian Beever creates these drawings on flat ground using nothing but colored chalk. He creates an 3D illusion by creating extra long images that appear to be 3D when viewed from a certain angle. Other notable mentions are:

boat by beever

This is what his paintings look like from a different angle:

wrongview-pool

and the same image from the correct angle:

swim

globe-wrongview

spiderman

  4. I CAN’T BELEAVE IT, IT LOOKS SO REAL. I’M
GLAD TO SEE SOMEONE CAN DO SOMETHING THAT
GOOD THESE DAY. YOU PUT THINGS ON THE SIDEWALKS THAT MOST CAN’T DO AT ALL.

  6. So freaking cool, man. It an awesome gift to be able make something from nothing. Even cooler that you can make 3D images from scratch

  12. I can’t figure out how he pictures it before he draws! They are skewed and stretched and only work if you look at them from the bottom. He is a genius!

  14. I don’t know of any permanent displays of Julian Beever’s work in the USA.

He seems to be very active in Birmingham, England though. Here is an interesting article about Mr.Beever by the BBC:

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/birmingham/content/articles/2006/01/27/pavement_picasso_feature.shtml

It even shows his preliminary sketches.
