Tennis on the Burj

The Burj is the worlds only 7 Star Hotel. I guess it earned one of its stars by having the worlds highest tennis court on its roof! Watch Andre Agassi and Roger Federer play a friendly game on the roof of the Burj. What if you tripped and fell? You’d certainly see stars then. There is a safety net on the sides though.

^^^ Andre blindly running towards the edge.

slide0006_image009

^^^ Now seriously, what if you aren’t able to stop? He’s almost diving for it. What if you trip and fall on the net and then bounce off it like it was a trampoline?

slide0008_image003

^^^ Awesome view!

slide0010_image013

^^^ I wonder where that ball landed. It probably ended up on the beach or into the ocean. Nice job polluting the ocean with tennis balls, Andre. Next some whale is going to get a tennis ball stuck in it’s blow hole.

slide0014_image025

slide0012_image017

^^^ It’s almost tempting to use those nets as a trampoline

^^^ I’m really curious about where those tennis balls would land and if the hotel has hired divers to go retrieve them.

^^^ Finally, the Burj hotel in Dubai. Someone told me that there is a large fee just to get in and long around. grr. Rich people stink.

  2. Seriously, I am imagining playing tennis up there (I never played tennis and think I never will), and actually tripping over falling into the safety net. Just think about lying in a net on that hight with nothing beneath you. I would vomit.

  3. I ADORE Agassi (and Federer’s great) but playing on that thing gives me the willies, even if it IS a 7-star hotel. GREAT pics and commentary, love it!

  7. Uh, yeah, tennis balls float, so I don’t think the hotel had to hire divers.

  9. The seven-star rating was simply a marketing phrase. The official Web site states it is a five-star hotel.

  12. I have been inside the Burj Al Arab and it is completely surreal and it’s seven star as far as I’m concerned, there’s just nothing else like it. No amount of money would have gotten me up there on the helipad, the hotel is way higher than it ever looked to me in the pics before I saw it for real.

  13. 5 stars is the official limit, there’s no such thing as a six-star hotel it’s just marketing although I do think that there are certain hotels who should have 6 or 7 like the burj

  20. well, if one of them had fall….would they crash against the sea-soil or could they “dive” saving themselves?

  24. Great pics thanks a lot.

I’ve played tennis for years and I don’t think they gave enough back court room. A feew more feet would make me feel much more comfortable.

By the way, smashing tennis balls out into the water like that doesn’t make you cool - it makes you an arrogant polluter. I’d expect such behavior from teenagers.

And to some above posters :

    1. I’m fairly sure the internet is big enough for all of us - calm down.

    2. Dubai is an emirate. However people also refer to Dubai city to distinguish between the overall Dubai area and the ‘city’. That’s the best I can tell from Wikipedia.

    3. Every country and race has idiots who find their way onto the internet.

    4. Try looking stuff up before you go off about it.

  25. Wow!! Thumps up to you guys for your bravery. And for the Burj Al Arab, it’s suberb….marvelous…..exquisite….in fact, words just can’t describe its beauty. Wish I could have a night there.

  26. I think they really weren’t playing a real tennis game on that helipad. I mean who could play on that kind of setting (the wind blowing the ball way off course, the thought of being way above the ground and stuff like that that are not normal on a tennis match). I think they were just playing around and not being serious of the game. And lastly, I also think that the “so called” tennis match between two tennis superstars was just a marketing strategy for the hotel. Then again, it is only “my own” opinion.

THANKS TO AGASSI AND FEDERER(MY FAV) FOR PLAYING AN UNIMAGINABLE MATCH ON THE ROOF, ALSO CALLED THE HELIPAD.

  29. Google Maps shows that thing as a helipad. I think you’re right - it was probably a tennis court just for the duration of this shoot.
