Monitors aren’t too dangerous, just leave it unplugged for a day or two and be careful of capacitors (look on google for some pics of what they can look like), if you find any big ones, you can use a piece of metal which has a well insulated part for you to hold, like a screw driver with a plastic handle, and touch the two terminals together on it, and that should discharge it.

Pulling the innards out should be relatively safe anyway though, there should just be a few screws attaching the crt tube to the front half of the monitor case to unscrew, which aren’t close to where capacitors should be. There may be some other little parts to unscrew two like panels of buttons/knobs, or built in microphones/speakers.

Erin > Actually it does take some amount of knowledge because monitors are dangerous and can hold charge for a very long time even if the power is unpluggged. This can be dangerous and people could get shocked or hurt badly.
